How Much Does a Security Guard Cost in Tijuana? The Factors Behind the Price

It is one of the most common questions: what is the security guard cost in Tijuana? The honest answer is that it depends. Two quotes can look the same and include very different things. Here is what drives the price and how to compare proposals.

What drives the price

Schedule and shifts

A 12-hour weekday shift does not cost the same as 24/7 coverage. A post that runs year-round needs several officers to cover shifts, days off, vacations and sick leave.

Risk level and post profile

A receptionist guard in an office does not need the same profile as an officer in a cargo yard or an executive protection agent. Higher risk means more training and experience.

Equipment and technology

Uniforms, radios, flashlights, digital logs, patrol systems, a patrol vehicle or a K9 team all change the cost.

Supervision

A service with supervisors who visit the site and respond to incidents costs more than one without, but it delivers much more.

Labor and tax obligations

Wages, social security, legal benefits, REPSE registration and permits are real costs. A company that complies cannot match the rate of one that does not.

Why cheap can be expensive

Since Mexico’s 2021 outsourcing reform, the client can be held jointly liable if the provider fails its obligations to workers. Payments to a provider without REPSE registration may also lose tax deductibility. We explain it in REPSE for security companies: what to check. A rate far below market usually means staff without social security, training or relief.

How to read a quote

  1. How many officers are included, and at what hours?
  2. Does it cover days off, vacations and absences?
  3. Does it include supervision, and how often?
  4. What equipment does the provider supply?
  5. Does it include reports and logs?
  6. Can the provider show REPSE, permits and social security records?

How to optimize your budget

An assessment lets you adjust the plan: for example, covering only high-risk hours with guards and relying on video surveillance the rest of the time. That way you invest where you actually reduce risk.

Frequently asked questions

Why don’t you publish fixed prices?

Because the price depends on schedule, headcount, risk and equipment. Publishing a figure without knowing the site would be misleading.

Is it cheaper to put guards on my own payroll?

It may seem so, but it means recruiting, training, supervising, covering absences and taking on labor liability. A specialized company carries that load.

How long does a quote take?

After the site visit, we usually deliver the proposal within a few business days.
